The Condemned - Not nearly as horrific as I had anticipated. A much better film than The Marine.

Vinny Jones should stick to playing a Manc hooligan.

The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada - It gets better every time you watch it. Nice to know that TLJ can make [censored] like Man of the House and still overcome with a film like this one.

It was nothing special. Donnie Brasco was better. The Sopranos was better.

An average film by a over-inflated director.

    Re: Last movie you watched

donnie brasco was good......but the cast in goodfellas was even better than that of casino which is nearly an impossible feat

i thought goodfellas was a great flick.....very well done.....and to call scorsese over inflated is among the dumbest things ive ever heard

he is the man behind taxi driver and raging bull which to this day are among the best movies ever made and were light years ahead of their time

    he also did:
    mean streets
    the color of money
    the last temptation of christ
    goodfellas
    cape fear
    casino
    bringing out the dead
    gans of new york
    the departed

this guy is a time tested director who keeps making award winning flicks after after a career that spans almost 45 years

scorsese is far from over inflated......hes among the GOAT

    Re: Last movie you watched

I think we're the only 2 on here that has seen 3 Burials . I reviewed it over a year ago on this thread .

"The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada" . One of those unknown films but nonetheless a decent movie . Starring Tommy Lee Jones as a current day Texas cowboy whose best friend Melquaides (an illegal Mexican cowboy ) is killed by Barry Pepper (a Border Patrol officer). Dwight Yocoum is a non caring sheriff that won't investigate the killing . Jones kidnaps Pepper and starts on a trek into Mexico to bury his friend in his hometown . A pretty somber if not dark mood throughout the movie so don't expect a fast pace , edge of your seat , feel good kind of movie .
Life is a grindstone . Whether it grinds us down or polishes us up , depends on what we are made of .

    Re: Last movie you watched

Scorsese is (as much as I despise the term) overrated.

People worship his films because he's [censored] Scorsese, not because they are worthwhile.

The cast of Goodfellas might have been filled with big names, but that doesn't make it a good film. Liotta is a [censored] actor. Sorvino was bleh. DeNiro was his usual [censored] self.

The only thing that could have made the film more disappointing (yes, I went in with high hopes) would have been the appearance of shitbag Pacino.

I wanted to love it. Instead I felt like I spent two hours watching a train wreck.

Many consider him to be a genius, IMO he's just another director with a crap way of telling stories.
